Max Watters’ hat-trick and Tom Nichols’ penalty were enough to see Crawley beat Barrow in a thrilling affair, and Lee Bradbury was pleased with how his side performed today: “Really pleased, the reaction from the boys when we went 2-1 down.

"It could’ve gone either way but we were aggressive in our play, we wanted to get on the front foot and the substitutions made a difference in that, but everyone today I thought was fantastic.

"We’ve gone behind with the penalty where it looks like the referee has changed his mind, it was a free-kick, then he talks to the linesman and gives a penalty so that was very frustrating but we reacted well after their second goal went in. We could’ve rolled over but we were very determined today and we scored some good goals.”

Tonight’s headlines and match ball will belong to Watters, but Bradbury insists it was a team effort that brought home three points today.

“I’ve just said to the lads that that ball that he’s got, and is getting signed by all the players is for everyone, not just for him. He’s just the pinnacle, he’s been putting the ball in the net and he’s been good at that, don’t get me wrong," he said.

"He’s a very unselfish player and he’s a good team player and at the moment he’s getting all the accolades and rightly so, but as a team today everyone stood up and that’s a fantastic showing for us, it took good character today to come back from behind and win the game."

Bradbury was pleased with his Crawley side for not conceding from open play today, although he was particularly disappointed with Barrow’s second goal, a Sam Hird header from a corner.

He said: "Frustration really for the corner.

"One of the lads just lost his man, got blocked off and it was a good ball and a good header, but there’s a positive as far as we haven’t conceded from open play, although the defenders and goalkeeper won’t see it that way, but we’ll take winning and scoring four goals”.

Crawley play again on Tuesday as they welcome Bradford City to the People’s Pension Stadium.
