Haywards Heath Town 4, Wick 1: Heath bounce back with Wick win

Heath remain five points behind Shoreham after a dominant performance bagged the three points at Hanbury today.

With the wind behind them in the first half Heath controlled possession and kept the ball in the Wick half but it took 30 minutes to breakdown the rear guard of Wick with a flowing move that saw Callum Saunders deliver the ball from the left and Trevor McCreadie met it perfectly inside the six yard box to volley the ball into the net.

Ten minutes later it was 2-0 after the impressive Joel Daly was brought down in the box and Callum Saunders stepped up and made it 2-0 from the spot.

After the break Heath kept the pressure on but again took time to finally breach the visitors net. Luc Doherty played the perfect ball that Joel Daly met and found the bottom corner perfectly on 68 minutes.

It was 4-0 two minutes later when Joel Daly got in behind the Wick back line and squared the ball for Trevor McCreadie to tap in his 24th league goal of the campaign.

As the game entered injury time Wick grabbed a late consolation with a long range effort that found it's way past Josh James.

On Friday night the Reserves finished their league season in disappointing fashion going down 5-1 away at Midhurst and Easebourne, Jay Jones grabbed the Blues consolation goal and they have just over two weeks to prepare for their cup semi final on Wednesday April 12 at Hanbury.
