The organisers’ format saw every team from the County A League have the opportunity to play each other to earn the right to play in the final. Some lightening quick offensive play and clinical finishing by Sparrows saw off a number of opponents before they’d really had the chance to get going. A couple of other matches it appeared the heat had caught up with the girls!

However, the final pitched local rivals Crawley Town against a resurgent Sparrows. Despite a 0-0 after normal time, Sparrows dominance continued into extra time but a winning goal looked illusive as Sarah Pepper’s penetrating throws into Crawley’s box failed to get converted. Penalties were in the manager’s mind before the last of Bronwen Thomas’ 9 goals for the tournament made it into the Crawley goal.

Mention to the other goal scorers: Fliss Love (3- one that would have graced the Premier League!), Jordan Bunday (3) and Daisy Bedall (1). No goals were conceded thanks to Zoe Moore’s efforts in goal and a defence of Sarah Pepper, Grace Perkins and Kathryn Otley.
