The Reds manager was speaking shortly after they drew Premier League side Leeds United on the FA Cup third round.

The tie, which will be held over the weekend of January 9-10, will be the biggest game ever at the People’s Pension Stadium.

But Yems is only focussed on the league games that come before that massive third round tie.

He said: “That’s the bread and butter. If they don’t keep their minds on the league, then people won’t get picked for the cup game, it’s simple.

“The league’s your bread and butter, Leeds is just the cherry on top at the minute.

“Let’s concentrate and do the best we can in the league.

“We got loads of work before the Leeds game. It’s nice going over Christmas knowing you have got Leeds at the end of it. But let’s get the league form back first.

“Play well and you get picked for the next game, that’s my message to the players.”
