Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to break the bank to keep Manchester United at the summit of English football. United are monitoring Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation at Real Madrid, while Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and Real Madrid’s Luka Modric are also attracting Ferguson’s attention.

At least eight professional footballers have revealed to colleagues that they are gay, but have refused to go public because they fear a backlash from fans. (The Guardian)
