Match preview: Brighton vs Ipswich Town

Gus Poyet and his merry men will be looking to bounce back this evening against an Ipswich team languishing near the foot of the Championship.

Brighton’s boss was disappointed by his team’s 1v0 home defeat to Birmingham City on Saturday evening but is confident his charges will get back to their winning ways this evening at The Amex.

Their chances should be boosted by the return of Spanish duo Bruno and Andrea Orlandi who both sat out Saturday’s defeat. Bruno especially was missed against Birmingham and having him back in his right back slot should add an attacking element to the Brighton team which was missing against Brum.

Top goal-grabber Craig Mackail-Smith remains on the treatment table, with Stephen Dobbie likely to continue to deputise for the striker. Andrew Crofts will also miss out.

The visitors could welcome back Michael Chopra who has missed the last two games nursing a groin problem but under-pressure boss Paul Jewell will have to do without both Paul Taylor and Luke Hyam.

Ipswich have a return of just two points from the last 18 available and are on the longest current winless run in the division, having not taken a maximum return for six games.

They also have the most goal-starved attack, having found the net just half a dozen times in eight games.

Brighton, on the other hand, have not lost at home to Ipswich in seven games and remain top of the league despite Saturday’s set back.
