The highly rated Portsmouth youngster already has 11 appearances for the Pompey first team under his belt and was due to join the Lewes squad ahead of the trip to Enfield Town, which was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

After Charlie Penny’s successful loan spell was cut short last month, Garry Wilson and Danny Bloor were keen to add another attacking player to the squad - as revealed in Friday’s Sussex Express.

6ft Maloney is a product of Pompey’s academy. The Ryde-born attacker has been wearing the blue of Portsmouth since the age of nine and has been a part of their first team squad for the past year.

The 19-year-old had a similar month’s loan deal with Conference Premier side Aldershot Town earlier this campaign.
