Proud record ends as 2-0 lead slips late on

Manager Simon Corless along with five regulars missed the trip east, where Heath let a 2-0 lead slip in the last 20 minutes to suffer their first league defeat for more than a year.

Corless was at a wedding and still awaiting a full update when he said: “It seems we just ran out of steam as they did to us what we did to Mile Oak earlier in the season.

“At this stage I don’t know if it was down to fitness or not but whatever the reason, it is something we will learn from.”

As Heath missed the chance to go top of Division 2, their hosts did just that as late goals by Lewis Hole (2), Jamie Crone and Jared Lusted earned the comeback win.

Heath were the better side for most of the first half although they did allow their hosts a few chances with some wayward passing.

Eric Mvale deservedly put Heath ahead on 27 minutes but it was against the run of play when Mike Williamson’s cross produced an own goal on 69 minutes. But the hosts reacted positively as they struck four times in 15 minutes to end the division’s last unbeaten record.
