Rooks could face hot reception at Beacon

Hassocks continue their pre-season preparations with the visit of Ryman Premier side Lewes to the Beacon this Saturday (3pm).

Robins are hoping for a bumper crowd with Rooks fans keen to get an early glimpse of Garry Wilson and Danny Bloor’s new-look side.

There have been changes for Hassocks too, with Simon Lehkyj and Lee Cooper leaving to try their luck in the Ryman League with Worthing and Crawley Down Gatwick respectively and James Westlake, Elliott Butler and Ben Palmer returning to St Francis.

On the credit side, midfielder Mark Price has joined from Ringmer, Spencer Slaughter returns from Worthing, Jack Simpson is back after a six-month break from senior football and Jamie Ingham has also returned having left the Beacon in 2008.

Mickey Jewell’s most important piece of business however is arguably the retention of 59-goal strike force Phil Gault and Nathan Miles.

Entry for Saturday’s game is £5 adults and £2.50 under 16s and senior citizens.
