Southdown Girls U10 made the long arduous journey from this green and pleasant county right into the industrial heart of England’s second city as representatives of the South at the FA National Youth Festival of Futsal.
Ten teams from around the country were competing in our age group representing well know names such as West Ham and Leicester City to the more obscure Cooper and Jordan Primary school from Walsall.
The event was a huge step into the unknown as Southdown had only played in the Sussex FA qualifying tournament in March and had little experience of the indoor version of the nation’s favourite sport. With that in mind, in preparation we were able to enlist the help of four members of last year’s successful U14 Girls squad from Rainham School for Girls for two training sessions.
