The choice of surface was a wise move by the league as many of the grass pitches have been waterlogged or frozen for several weeks, an opportunity to play football, taken up by over 18 teams.

It was a bright, breezy and cold day in Hassocks, with the distant Downs dusted in snow. But there was little time to admire views, the matches were fast and intense. One mistake or a lost moment’s concentration and a goal fired into the net. Sporting Lindfield started well winning their first three matches, as the pressure mounted the team kept their cool, going onto draw two and win a further two games. It was a great team performance unbeaten over the whole day, with a resolute defence, dynamic mid field and attack ready to pounce for goals. The final result was very close with Crawley Down pushing hard right to the very last kick of the tournament but Sporting Lindfield had done enough to win the Plate.

Sporting Lindfield are an under 11s team from Lindfield FC Juniors established 1994, the Club runs teams from U6 to U18.
