But the season opener did not go as Boddie planned.

They were 2-0 down at half time. Brought it back to 2-1 thanks to Rhys White before five more second half goals saw Common romp to victory.

White did get a second for Rangers.

But Boddie told Middy Sport: “I was tremendously disappointed with Saturdays result.

“It wasn’t the fact that we lost but the manner in which we lost.

“Pre-season we had shown a steady improvement finishing with a win. We also had the misfortune to pick up another injury with Idriz Adedoja possibly pulling a hamstring. Time will tell as to how long he may be out.

“Individually the performances were not that bad but collectively it left a lot to be desired.

“In saying that I firmly believe we can get our act together albeit I did say I didn’t think we were quite ready just yet for competitive matches.

“However it is a long season and I know we will soon start to gel and begin to get results that show all the hard work that has been put in by all at the club.

“Having had a long chat at the end where we were all very open and honest and I trust the players to go away and reflect upon that which was discussed and begin to work on our weaker points.

“We have the opportunity to have a full training session before we host Midhurst & Easbourne next Saturday in the RUR cup.

“Cups are a relief from the pressure of the league so any cup run is a good cup run, but the league is about consistency and that is what my main aim is, to provide some consistency to the group and gain a foothold and steady the ship before then looking to push on.
