It may only be early in the football season, but for one local team it’s already off to a flying start.

They find themselves at the top of division 1 in the Mid-Sussex League and they have now booked a place in this season’s Under 13’s Cup Final. The newest age group at St Francis Rangers were only set up this season and have won all of their league & cup matches so far. Manager Danny White said “it’s been a fantastic start and hopefully it can continue for the rest of the season, if we can finish with a trophy or two in our first year at the club it would be great – however the priority is for the young players to develop and enjoy football here in Mid-Sussex”.

St Francis Rangers Youth FC is located behind the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath and has teams in numerous age groups. The club pride themselves in getting the balance right between both ‘football for all’ & ‘competitive sports’.

Danny explained how the team became a part of the club: “Last summer I spoke to the Chairman Neil Parker & committee member Paul Salvage and with their support & backing we set up the under 13’s team. The team was also incredibly lucky to be offered a great sponsorship by Martin Dawes of PAM Worldwide Ltd who provided a superb new kit as well (which the boys love!) – We honestly haven’t looked back since. The club has such a great family feel & seeing so many local youngsters of different ages training together and having fun on a Saturday morning is great. I know all the boys in our age group and their families are delighted to be part of the club going forward”.

The new Under 13’s team hope to build on their winning start and are especially looking forward to representing both the club & local area in the Cup Final at Three Bridges Stadium on March 13th. They will go up against a very strong Crawley based team in Wealden Rangers so anyone wishing to go along and cheer on these local youngsters will be very welcome!
