This week, the Mid Sussex Times reported that the club and council have clashed over vital improvements to the team’s council-owned home.

Failure to complete upgrades by March 31 could lead to a mandatory relegation from the Ryman Premier League.

A statement issued by club chairman Kevin Newell today (Friday January 15) credited the Middy’s coverage for talks escalating.

He said: “Within hours of the publication of this week’s ‘Middy’, Mid Sussex District Council contacted us to offer a date for a meeting early next week, when (general manager) John Rattle and I can put our case for permission for the new stand we need.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our supporters who rallied round to make sure the Council got the message! I’ll report the outcome of the meeting as soon as I can.”
