Heath are currently chasing promotion into Division 1 and remain just behind the front runners after a narrow defeat against leaders Eastbourne United on Saturday.

In a thrilling end-to-end game, Town trailed to a Wade Eason goal on ten minutes before Andy Tuckey levelled nine minutes later.

Ryan McBride netted on 33 minutes and Eason added a third on 39 minutes before Danny Mobsby pulled one back one minute before half-time.

Eason completed his hat-trick just a minute into the second half, and, although Jamie Wanstall scored a third late on for Town, it was too little too late.

Corless said: “I was away for the first half and got there when we were 3-2 down, but from what I got told when they gave me the low down, we had been going ok.

“A couple of errors had let them in. And then, I don’t know if it was because I had turned up, one minute into the second half they got their fourth.

“From that point on we were really up against it trying to get it back.”

Heath, who are fourth, now visit third place Broadbridge Heath on Saturday, who are three points above them with two games in hand.

Corless added: “We are losing games through errors, which is something we had not had before, but has crept into our game after the long break with the weather.

“It’s not an excuse as it sometimes takes a bit of time to get back into it.

“The players do not do it on purpose and are gutted about mistakes, but it is part of football.

“We’re going to work hard at training and get it back together before we turn up at Broadbridge Heath – that is the big one.

“It’s the one that could decide the season and if we beat them I believe we can push on and get promotion.”
