The striker celebrated winning the Southern Combination Football League Division 1 title with his Haywards Heath Town team mates today after their 4-0 win at Mile Oak.

This league title win is now his fourth title win in four years. Last season he was part of the all conquering Burgess Hill Town side which romped to Ryman South victory.

In 2013/2104 season he was part of the East Preston side which won the County League Division 1 - now the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division (but O’Toole admitted himself: “I only helped them out the last 10 games”). And in the 2012/2013 season he won the County League with Peacehaven and Telscombe.

O’Toole celebrated his latest title triumph on the same day he became an uncle. And O’Toole spoke to the Middy Sport from a hospital waiting room where he was waiting to see the latest addition to his family.

He said: “What ever team you play in, you want to win and be first.”

And he admitted that he thought this Haywards Heath Town team would go all the way this season.

He said: “Yeah I think we all wanted to win it don’t know how many thought we would but I was confident we would win from the start. It’s just momentum and the more you build you can beat teams mentally before you turn up sometimes.”

And O’Toole has enjoyed his new role under Shaun Saunders, scoring 36 goals in 36 games - and despite all the success this season, he still has a target he wants to reach.

He said: “I’ve enjoyed playing a new position behind the striker - the modern day number 10 role. I had a goal target in my head at the start and I haven’t hit it yet. I have got four to go before i can tick that box.”

Heath lost the foirst game of the season to Southwick, but since then Saunders’ men have not looked back and have won 26 league games on the trot. But O’Toole doesn’t believe there’s any secret to their success.

He said: “There isn’t really a secret. Any team that works hard and works together with the right quality will win. It’s the same any sport.”

And the striker is not thinking about life in the Premier Division just yet.

He said: “I’m looking forward to being back in Magaluf for the annual end of season weekend away then I’ll think about football after that.”

O’Toole will be looking to add to his tally against Sidlesham away next Saturday.
