“Wow. Not again,” says Shearing as St Francis Rangers lose 11-0 for the second week in a row

Goals from Ryan Storrie, Joe Shelley, Terry Dodd (4), Darren Boswell, Kieron Pamment, Scott Murfin, Samir Hadi (2) meant Horsham repeated what Pagham did to Dave Shearing’s team last week.

Boss Shearing said: “Wow. Not again. I joked earlier in season about dreaming of an 11-0 defeat. Well it is now a nightmare.

“I had a go at the players last week for basically lack of effort and not following instructions.

“I defiantly cannot level this against them this week.

“We had a clear plan and they carried out their instructions and heads not drop.

“Even after this crushing defeat I was proud of all of them. We had no luck our keeper Mark Oldroyd pulled of some decent saves.”

Shearing has revealed how the club are planning for the future by making 18-year-old Conor Carolan captain.

And the oldest outfield player for St Francis was 24.

He said: “Obviously I’ve been around this league for a long time but the truth is it was men against boys. If we had performed like we did last week against Horsham would have scored 20. I did not see a weakness in there squad.

Shearing is hoping he can carry on with the tough job he has on his hands.

“Now obviously two games and two 11-0 defeats is totally unacceptable and I’m realistic enough to realise that if there was a honeymoon period, it’s over and if there is someone out there who thinks they can come in and do a better job, the club would be sensible to listen.

“As a manager those things are out of my control so until I get the call from the chairman I will carry on doing my best.

“It would be a bit silly for me to stand on the touch line screaming for the players not to give up and keep trying then for me to throw in the towel.

“October will be an important month as we play three teams towards the bottom of the league plus the FA Vase to look forward to.”
