Cuckfield golfers contest the Triangle Cup

The Triangle Cup was inspired by two previous Lady Captains and sees teams of 12 from the Ladies, Men and Seniors taking to the course at Cuckfield Golf Centre. The competition is played over 18 holes and uses the “Skins” format.

Sunday 27th May was not a fantastic day weather-wise but this did not deter the intrepid teams as they battled their way around. If a hole is not won outright the “skin” is carried on to the next hole, making two to play for. Whoever wins that hole may claim those “skins”. If still no winner then it continues until a hole is won increasing the number each time.

There were ups and downs in every team and as the scores were not divulged until all teams were back in the clubhouse the end result was a surprise for everyone. A welcome plate of sandwiches was enjoyed by each team and the scores, until the very last team arrived back, were very, very close. The eventual winners were the Men with a total of 82, the Ladies followed with 70 and the Seniors bought up the rear with a commendable 64. Nearest the Pin was won by Carol Popplewell and Nearest the Line by Brian Gallagher. Another enjoyable competition with a twist.
