Glorious sunshine at Lindfield Golf Club for Jim Wright’s Toon Trophies

For the Seventh Year glorious sunshine heralded Toon Trophies Day in memory of one of Lindfield’s popular Veterans, Jim Wright.

Five members of the family again supported June for the Day.

As always, a bumper field of over 50 players participated, many sporting black and white golf shirts in support of Jim’s beloved Newcastle United.

After collecting the customary goodie bags before play they took to the field for an Individual Stableford competition, with Jim’s eldest son Steve and grandson, James leading the field.

The weather was perfect for the running Barbecue which followed with laughter the core of the day.

Steve gave a humorous address and talked about his Dad’s love of golf despite being a “leftie”, then announced the winners as follows :

Toon Trophy - for Veterans only.

Winner at the 7th attempt was fellow “Leftie” Mike Aitchison(18) with 43 pts

Winner : Club member Ellis Pagden (5) with 43 pts

Family Trophy was won again this year by Steve who handed it to nephew James for safe keeping until 2015.

Steve then wished everyone well and said the family were very much looking forward to the 2015 competition.
