The golf was a stableford competition for teams of four, the two best scores at each hole to count. The morning competition was won by the Police Young Boys who comprised Andy Bennett, Mike Dunne, Mark Dunn and Iain Hedley. Their score of 92 points was by a distance the best of the day. Second were Three Men and a Mum with 86 on countback from Weapons of Grass Destruction.

In the afternoon Doc Martin’s Dreamers (Maggie Kay, Andrew and Margaret Wright, and the good doctor Martin Rogers himself) scraped home with 84 from Three Boys and a Girl and Blind Dates, both on 83.

Beautifully sunny weather, refreshment tents dotted around the course, a superb tombola prize table and an exciting grand draw all contributed to a highly successful day, which culminated in a top class concert by world-famous singer-songwriter Gerard Kenny, who lives in Hartfield and is the neighbour of a member.

The healthy proceeds are destined to provide a cover for the driving range bays and a secure home for the professional’s technological teaching aids.
