Haywards Heath Exclusive reach final of Plate
After the disappointment of the scratch team losing to Lewes in the quarter final of the Sussex County Optimus Trophy, Haywards Heath Exclusive under the captaincy of John Magrath were determined to do better and reach the final of the Sussex County Exclusive Golf Plate, an interclub handicap matchplay knockout competition.
The semi-final was played at the Neville golf club and in a closely contested match, Haywards Heath beat Willingdon 4 – 1 . Notable victories for the pairings of Pope & Baldock, Honeysett & Kitchen, Dalgleish & Henocq and McNulty & McCully, with the pairing of Haywards & Hubbard losing to a very strong Willingdon pair.
Team Captain John Magrath was delighted with the result and said it was due in no small part to the many club members who had made the journey to support them.
Mannings Heath golf club the sponsors of the competition will host the final between Haywards Heath & Crowborough on Saturday 27th September.
