Graduate Weevil ready to take on all-comers in charity event at Arlington

A University graduate with a BA Honours in Business and Administration, Tim is not your standard banger driver.

He is known across the banger world as the guy who gets a car, often pulling it out of a hedge or similar, does the basic prep necessary to make the car safe and legal, and then gives it a crude paint job in his infamous orange and purple racing colours.

From there, he loads up and goes racing with the sole intention of bringing back a car to be crushed. People’s Champion Tim has the approach that if the car comes home straight, he has not had any fun, which after all is the main reason why most drivers go racing.

2015 has been a quiet year so far by his high standards, as the difference in National Bangers between the drive way driver, and those prepared and willing to spend a little more on their sport, has continued to widen considerably.

After seven months in the planning, ‘The Bears Big Bash’ thunders into the raceway with a promise to entertain the expected sell-out crowd, and raise some decent money for the Royal Alexandra Children’s hospital in Brighton.

The media, radio, television, social networks…….everyone’s been talking about and anticipating this event and now it’s finally here.

Quite simply if Carlsberg did Banger racing, this is the meeting they would organise.

With over 130 drivers from right across England, Scotland and Wales descending onto Arlington Stadium, plus for the first time, a sizeable contingent from mainland Europe, all known for their hard hitting this not only promises to be the largest meeting ever held at the Old Lady, but also the most entertaining.

Hosted by the country’s largest and most respected team, The Bears, the event aims to raise as much money as possible for The Royal Alexandra children’s hospital in Brighton.

The hospital’s board of trustees have given organisers a wish list that has a new heart/cardiac monitor costing £7,000 as their most urgent requirement.

“If we could raise enough to cover the purchase of the monitor outright that would be incredible”, said Bears captain Nigel Riley. “We know how much they desperately need this equipment, and so we will all being going out to do our best to ensure we can provide it for them.”

“We want to make ‘The Bash’ at Arlington, an evening that race fans simply won’t forget!”

With so many drivers descending on Sussex with the intention of taking on the sport’s biggest names on their home turf, The Bears may have their work cut out to preserve their reputation of being the biggest and the best.

Including a sky dive, to date The Bears have raised over £16,000 for the ‘Royal Alex’.

With such a mouth-watering fixture, a sell out with the ‘Car Park Full’ boards being raised is expected…so arrive early.

Racing starts at 5:30pm with gates open at 3:30pm.
