Cross Country

The Harriers’ Men’s A team took an impressive fourth place in the Cross Country Championship at Bexhill on Saturday. On a very muddy course and extremely competitive field, the team faired well and just missed out on third. The scoring Harriers were Phil Hardaway (45.19), Tom Mullen (45.37), Paul Tomlinson (45.49), Phil Radford (47.33), Paul Cousins (47.56) and Josh Pewter (48.43). There were also strong performances amongst the Senior Ladies and Juniors from U11- U17 with Siobhan Amer, Thomas Fox, Lily-Mae Bliss-Tomlinson, Jasmine Mamoany, Adam Dray, Daniel Blain and Simeon Cousins the leading Harriers in their races.

Tadworth 10

The Harriers’ Ladies also saw success this weekend, finishing third placed team in the Tadworth 10 mile race on Sunday in Surrey. This tough, multi terrain, two-lap, undulating course starting at Epsom Downs Race Course offered stunning views over the Downs but even the mist and mud on the day were not enough to dampen spirits for over 600 runners.

Hangover 5

The 2015 West Sussex Fun Run League season kicked off with the Hangover 5 hosted by the Goring Road Runners and the chance to clear fuzzy heads on New Year’s Day.

On the 5 mile trail climb on the hilly, chalky tracks and paths up to Cissbury Ring and back, Kat Barrett finished a brilliant seventh lady, with her time of 40:41, followed by Michelle Pearce in 12th (43:28). Stuart Austin was first male Harrier (40:14) on his return to racing from injury with Carl Bicknell (41:07) and Mike Derrick (43:25) closely behind.
