Harriers take part in ‘the Valentines Run’

The weekend saw the West Sussex Fun Run League continue at Southwater for Sunday morning ‘the Valentines Run’.

A 3.5miles race hosted by the Horsham Joggers.

1st Harrier back was 17th was Jack Chivers 25.19 who was delighted by his top 20 finish, closely followed by Jon Kennedy 25.23. Mark Armitage 29.34, Mark Sykes 31.44 and Steve Horn with 32.34.

Linda Tullett completed in 35.26, 39.33 for Irene Parsley and 44.23 for Jenny Denyer in a busy race with 297 Sunday morning runners.

3 Harriers braved the ‘Silva North Downs Trail Run 10k on Saturday night.

All completed amongst the top 10 and Harriers star girl Izzy Coomber finished first lady with 53.21. Rob Watts was 7th and 50.23 and Phil Payne pleased with 10th and 53.43 where over 75 runners overcame the challenge of night running on the North Downs.

Izzy was delighted at the being first female back and winning a vital 100 pounds worth of head torch as a prize for future intrepid night racing. This win came off the back of being 1st lady in the 5k Clair Parkrun in Haywards Heath that morning!

Harrier Phil Payne reported on the first time event, “ It was a cracking race, where I was pleased we were persuaded by Rob Watts to try it. Night running cross country is simply exhilarating but not for the faint hearted.”
