Hill ladies earn firstDouble Rink trophywin for six years

Burgess Hill ladies won the county inter-club Double Rink when they beat Chichester by seven shots at Haywards Heath on Saturday.

Hill had held the initiative from the start thanks to Joan Howson’s rink but Chi took a one shot lead with 17 ends played before Howson immediately replied with a four to provide the springboard for overall victory.

Her rink of Hazel Jordan, Joan Higham and Elizabeth Gooding beat the Wendy Adams four 28-11 to more than offset a 10-20 defeat for Angie O’Donnell’s rink of Jane Mackenzie, Daphne Kennard and Karen Myles.

This was Hill’s first triumph in this event since 2007.
