Jay and Caz travel to the Lake District for the ‘Dirty Double’

Jay and Caz Wadey travelled to the Lake District this weekend to take part in the Lakeland Trails “Dirty Double”.

The Helvellyn terrain and unforgiving weather didn’t stop the hardy duo completing back to back races on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday they finished the 15km race in 2:11:09 and on Sunday, the 9k race in 1:22:00.

Daniel Belton led the way for the blue army at the Poppy Half Marathon in Bexhill on Saturday, finishing in a speedy 1:54:12.

Not far behind were Matthew Cawthra (1:56:38), Emma Leeson (1:57:53), Vicky Connolly (2:02:51), Carole Mills (2:02:58), Gary Foley (2:10:09) and Claire Giles (2:22:25). There were also 10k and 5k alternatives and in the 5k it was Allison Willcox who led the club’s runners with a time of 44:56. Not far behind were Jane and Joshua Harle, 45:11 and 47:14 respectively.

Jamie Goodhead (3:37:40), Neil Dawson (4:24:53), Debbie Saint (4:16:17) and Phillipe Ecaille (4:48:54) completed the Velothon Marathon on Saturday. An unusual event where these runners had to complete a dizzying 72 laps of the cycling track at Preson Park to make up a full marathon.
