Prior to the match starting, a one minute silence took place in the memory of John Summers the long serving match secretary of the Lewes League who passed away at his home on the Isle of Man from where he carried out his duties for all his colleagues.

The opening pairing in the A team match brought together the host’s talented skipper Gary Page and the Middies Kevin Ward who was undefeated in the MSBSL last season. Ward gave a determined performance but found Page in top form who won both frames 70-33 and 63-40 producing the top break of the night with a 56 in the first frame. The visitors flamboyant Anthony Flynn was in top gear building a 38 break in his first frame winning 86-12 against the stylish Jake Richardson then gaining the double with a 54-38 success.
