As the 2015 Sussex Grand Prix season enters the final races, the Haywards Heath Harriers remain amongst the top clubs in the County and are looking to secure back to back titles.
Injuries and competing events are not helping their chances but some strong performances in a busy spell of racing will no doubt support their goal.
Last week in the Barns Green Half Marathon, through the beautiful Sussex countryside and the historic Christ’s Hospital school, there were leading Harrier performances from Glen Driver who finished fifth overall in a brilliant time of 1:14.38 and Siobhan Amer in 1:39.47. Matt Quinton had one of his best races in recent times to finish in 1:45.27. The Harriers had an impressive 18 runners out. This weekend, there was a smaller Harrier turnout for the Lewes Downland 10 mile race across the rolling South Downs. Results are not yet available
The next Sussex Grand Prix race is the rescheduled Bexhill 5km in November where the Harriers will be looking for some fast times.
On Sunday, there was silverware in the Forest Row 10k for Kim Lo and Louise Toomey. Kim finished first lady with Louise second.
The results are also now in for last weekend’s Cross-country relays at Goodwood Racecourse with the Men’s Senior team of Tom Mullen (13:28), Glen Driver (13:27), Russ Mullen (13:36) and Rob Watts (13:57) taking third place over the 4km course against formidable competition.
