On a day that hinted at Spring, the Seniors of Haywards Heath Golf Club held their season opening Charity Competition in aid of The Kleinwort Centre.

Fifty four golfers, in teams of three, played a modified 3 ball waltz.

Winners of the competition, by a 4 point margin with 72 points, were Tony Jones, Tony Henocq and Martyn Taylor. A very fine strike at the 7th hole secured Peter Stevenson the Nearest the Pin prize, whilst 2 very fine shots by Cameron Sharp in the first match out was not beaten for Nearest the Pin in Two at the 18th hole.

The ninth hole was the scene of a special challenge.

Members were given the opportunity of challenging Assistant Professional, Jack Martin, in a nearest the pin shoot out. Jack did an amazing job, only losing to 5 challengers. Well done Jack.

At the end of a day which all agreed had been great fun, Seniors’ Captain, Bob Hall, presented Ladies’ Captain, Kath Honeysett, with a cheque for £1072 in aid of The Kleinwort Centre.
