Saturday 2nd May saw the The Haywards Heath Golfing calendar really kick off.
The Bridgestone day was a big success, with over a 100 members taking part in the competition organised between the club and Bridgestone, who along with tyres also make golf balls.
Six clubs were selected by Bridgestone to hold the competition, Haywards Heath being one of them. The top two from each club would then be invited to an all expenses paid trip to the Belfry golf club to compete against the winners from the other five clubs. The lucky winners on that day would then receive an all expenses trip to Ohio as guests of Bridgestone to watch the Bridgestone WGC Invitational at Firestone, USA.
All the competitors on the day were invited to take part in the various quizzes and given a chance to win a car by guessing the correct combination to open a safe. The competition itself was closely contested and only two points separated the top six.
Mark Holder off a handicap of eleven was the winner with a solid round of 41 pts. Wilf King was second with 40 pts and the leading lady was Margaret Jones with 39 pts. We wish Mark and Wilf the very best at the Belfry and hope one of them can make it to the USA.
The next major club event is the Heineken Pro Am on Wednesday 20th May. All the Sussex club professionals have been invited and will play alongside local club members. It promises to be an exciting day not only for the club but for the town.
