The men and ladies of Mid Sussex Golf Club competed in the Club Championships over the weekend of 11th and 12th July.
The men set off early on the Saturday with the ladies tees following on in almost perfect golfing conditions.
The ground staff had left areas of long grass making additional hazards to the bunkers and water. Pin positions were changed for the second 18 hole round on Sunday with the weather also making a change for the worse.
The early men just managed to get around in the dry before the rain came with the ladies having to contend with it from the start of their round.
The overall Ladies Club Champion was Kate Watts who scored an excellent gross 82, nett 68, on the first day finishing with a gross 169, nett 141, over the two days. Tradition has it that you are unable to win both trophies and so Cathy Jones was declared Ladies Handicap Champion with a nett score of 148 over the two rounds.
The Mens Club Champion was Charlie Beadle with gross 150, and runner up Mark Portlock gross 158. Mens Handicap Champion was Chris Slade with nett 142 and runner up Graham Batchelor nett 144.
