Pictures show empty stands - and social distancing in place - at Goodwood racecourse

Another day, another eight races at Goodwood - again in front of empty stands and with jockeys and officials keeping strictly to rules designed to prevent any threat of coronavirus being spread.

Mark Cranham was on hand to capture the action - and the strange environment - as Goodwood staged the second of two straight days of racing, its first action of the season. It's proved a valuable practice run for the Qatar Goodwood Festival, five days of 'Glorious' racing at tne end of July, which racecourses bosses still hope they may be allowed to invite some racecourse members in to see.
