The 16-year–old from Cuckfield was riding her mother Claire’s 14 year-old chestnut mare Lea du Genier and took on the role of pathfinder for the team, which comprised Emily Ward, 14 from Cheshire, Faye Adams, aged 15 years from Halesowen, and Millie Allen, 15 from Stockton-on-Tees.

Riding under the Team Fairfax banner, all four riders put in solid performances to put team GB in pole position after the first round. They headed the leaderboard with zero penalty points.

Jumping in reverse order on Friday, they were the last of the 10 nations to come forward in an event which took on the same format as the Nations Cup, where only the three best scores count.

Inglis and Lea du Genier incurred four penalties in the afternoon but with rider after rider collecting penalties after them, there were still six teams in contention until that was narrowed down to three with one rider from each country left to go.

Germany then jumped clear and that meant they had a finishing score of just four faults.

France then slipped out of contention as the rider who went clear in the morning was eliminated and that meant GB’s Millie Allen needed to go clear to finish level with Germany. However, her mount, 10 year-old bay mare Song Girl, had a foot in the water to mean the team had to settle for a worthy silver medal. Ireland took bronze with a score of 12 penalty points.

In the individual event over four days, Inglis finished fifth but on the final day she was one of only three riders to go clear in two rounds of a separate championship.
