Heath Mini Lucas trains with England rugby stars

With less than 100 days to go until the kick-off of the Rugby World Cup, Haywards Heath mini, Lucas Grimley age 8 from Cuckfield, was one of only 120 children selected to take part in an unique training session at Twickenham.

Hosted by World Cup winning pair Will Greenwood and Maggie “The Machine” Alphonsi - both Rugby World Cup 2015 Ambassadors - Lucas was treated to a behind the scenes tour of Twickenham including England’s changing room before settling down to a series of tough skills and drills played out on the main pitch at the home of England Rugby. During their stadium tour, Will Greenwood excited the children with stories of playing for England and encouraged them to follow their dreams.

Lucas was then fortunate enough to be placed in Maggie Alphonsi’s team and received numerous High 5s from Maggie for his support play, selfless passing and endless energy.

Lucas said afterwards, “Maggie is such a great player and it was unbelievable to play in her team - and, although one of her passes was intercepted, she is absolutely brilliant”.
