With the world’s best professional rugby skills on display in the Rugby World Cup, car insurance provider 1ST CENTRAL has launched the nationwide campaign to pinpoint the best ball skills in the country – and is offering £5,000 to the club that produces the most jaw-dropping trick shots on video. The 1ST CENTRAL Rugby Trick Shot Challenge asks rugby clubs across the nation to showcase their skills, athleticism and showmanship in video form for the chance to win £5,000 funding for the development of their club.

They kicked off the challenge with members of its local team, Haywards Heath RFC, whose alumni include England and British and Irish Lions player, Billy Twelvetrees.

During the warm up to a recent match, they captured a film of the club’s tricks, which involved feats of accuracy and power such as spin passing a ball into a car sun roof, drop kicking a ball into a tyre tower, and hitting targets pinned to the posts. Players invited local fans to try these unusual technique-honing trick shots during half time.

The Guernsey Raiders are also set to enter and will be displaying their trick shot skills with an upcoming submission.

Any club looking to enter rugby trick shots for this competition must upload their video to 1ST CENTRAL’s Facebook page and the video with the most ‘Likes’ and ‘Shares’ will scoop the prize. The competition will run until 30th November 2015.

Andy James, UK CEO at 1ST CENTRAL said: “Our local club, Haywards Heath RFC has fed a number of players into top level rugby. We also provide sponsorship for the Guernsey Raiders RFC. We thought it would be good for some rugby rivalry between the clubs to see who has the best skills but then thought we would open it out to all clubs so we look forward to seeing their best shots.”
