Sussex Over 40s Squash ladies in a good position going into second round of matches

Unfortunately, even with the advantage of a home fixture at Weald in Hasocks, they could not find a win against Hertfordshire or Berkshire.

Heading up the team against Hertfordshire, Zoe Shardlow took control of her match to win in three, while Wendy Simpson chased down her opponent’s boasts to snatch an early game before losing the momentum to lose 1-3. However, Sarah Naish, Sarah Porter and Amber Hoad failed to grab a game as Sussex finished 1-4.

After beating Hertfordshire, a very competitive Berkshire continued their winning ways with Zoe Shardlow’s tactical game failing to make any headway against her accurate opponent as she lost in three. As the Sussex team struggled to take games against this very strong side there was a glimmer of hope as Sarah Naish took the first two games of her match before her opponent took the pace off the ball to take control of the match as Sussex finished 0-5.
