The championships were held at the National Squash Centre in Manchester where the No 2 seed lifted the title, which she is young enough to defend next year.

Torrie only took up the game seriously a little more than two years ago when she saw that her triplet brothers were hitting the ball more often than she could manage. Dad Camron said: “Clearly she did not want to be left behind.”

Her triplet brothers also took part, with Heston 40th, Bailey 48th and Sumner 51st in the boys U11 event. At only seven years of age, that gives them another three years in this age category.

One of their older brothers, Perry, was third in the boys competition last year.

Camron said: “We are indebted to Mantis for their continuing sponsorship of Torrie and also to K2 Freedom Leisure for their help with training facilities.
