Gill Andersson won the award for ‘Referee of the Year’ which is in recognition of her hard work and efficiency in running many junior tennis tournaments across the county. Gill was particularly recognised for her work with mini tennis.

Mick McCarron won the award for ‘volunteer of the year’ which was in recognition of his hard work and commitment during the recent redevelopment at the Weald where he dedicated hours and hours of his own time to ensure that the building work was on track and to specification. Mick’s hard work and commitment has continued beyond the finish of the development making sure that the new clay courts are well maintained.

Finally long standing club member Simon Strange won the prestigious ‘Robert Cushing Memorial award’ for outstanding service to Tennis. Simon was nominated due to his commitment to increasing participation in tennis by ensuring all new and perspective members are welcomed to the club and encouraged to play. He has for many years organised a really successful Wednesday morning doubles session, organising over 40 players in different times slots ensuring that all players get a good game. This session is very inclusive and much valued by all those who play.

The Weald is very proud of all our award winners and we deeply appreciate their hard work and commitment.
