The Weald Tennis host LTA Quorn Family Mini Tennis Cup

With the LTA looking to actively encourage more people to play tennis more often and with families in mind The Weald Tennis hosted an LTA Quorn Family Mini Tennis Cup.

The event was open for any player ten and under to play doubles with another family member on a mini red tennis court and most importantly to have fun on court. The rules only allowed players to play with mini tennis rackets and with mini red balls and in addition adults were not allowed to advance into the service box to volley.

With the rules clearly explained there was some excellent and good-spirited tennis played by all the pairs, and it was a shame that only one pair is likely to go on to represent The Weald at an AEGON grass court event in May or June.

Finals result: Rob and Cameron bt Jonathan and Otto 7-5,5-7,7-3. Special mention to Louis at just 8 years old as the youngest competitor and to Mum Emma for providing a lovely lemon drizzle cake for all the participants.
