“We are feeling slightly more confident now but during lockdown so many people wrote to us that have been in severely dark places and have been begging us to bring some music out.

“Some of it has been online before, but people haven’t before had a CD of these tracks that they can hold.

“We felt that there was massive distress out there. People have been saying to us that the music has been a lifeline. We will be releasing another EP within three months.

“When you get notes from people at one in the morning saying that they have really connected with the lyrics, then you feel like you have got a duty of care to get the music out there to the people that have invested in you.

“If someone has taken the time to write to you, then you want to be able to give back.

“There is no point putting a whole album out at the moment because we know a lot of people won’t be able to afford it because times are hard for people, but we are putting an EP out and making it affordable and hoping that it will help people get through until the next one.

“Our last gig was in Brighton a couple of weeks before lockdown, and that’s why we have been doing our lockdown videos.

“We can get together our musicians together remotely, and we have done four lockdown videos and we are working on a fifth. We want to give people enough to show that we are still active.

“The whole thing has been scary – and financially scary. This is our living.

“This is how we put the bread on the table. We are just hoping that if we have invested in these free lockdown gigs that we have done, then perhaps people will come out and pay for a ticket when we are able to get back to gigging again.

“When people are not clapping at us at a gig, we are looking at likes and views and that’s what gets us through and encourages us to keep going.

“It has been difficult, but you have just got to share what you have got financially and emotionally and you have just got to hope that when it comes to it and we can get back out there, people will come along and pay to come to our gigs again.”

The EP features four tracks Take Him Away; I’m In Love With You; Behind Closed Doors; and On The Path.

Behind Closed Doors is an acoustic track which they recorded at Abbey Road; I’m In Love With You comes from the show Love In The Harbour which Danielle has been working on with her husband and drummer John Merrigan – “It’s like a country, soft rock, easy listening type track, different to the version in the musical. It has got a slightly different vibe.”

Love In The Harbour was performed at last year’s Festival of Chichester and also, earlier this year, at the Regis Centre in Bognor. This summer it was also part of the Virtual Festival of Chichester.

Completing the EP, Take Him Away has got an upbeat rock ‘n’ roll vibe, while On The Path is a song which John wrote in memory of his mother. The EP is available through Danielle’s website on
