Stane Street Sinfonietta set to conclude Horsham live music series

Featuring world-class musicians who have connections with Sussex, the orchestra, conducted by Steve Dummer, will play Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony, the Divertimento in F by Mozart and Samuel Barber’s Adagio, plus some surprise items by Piazzolla, Grainger and Gershwin. Following regulations to allow for socially-distanced seating, there are three performances at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm with each concert limited to an audience of 75.

The previous concerts in the series were some of the first public music events to take place in the Horsham area since lockdown and proved very successful for both players and audience.

“It’s been very special for all of us and I’ve been really taken aback by how much it’s meant to people” said Steve. “The players in the group are some of the best musicians in the country, who are used to playing to live audiences night after night but since lockdown that hasn’t been possible. They’ve been so grateful to have the opportunity to get back to doing what they do best. We’ve also had so many messages of support from people who’ve attended the concerts to say not just how much they’ve enjoyed them but how fantastic it’s been just to have something to go to – to get out of the house and see real people doing real things rather than on a screen.”

The performances, lasting about an hour, will follow Government safety guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19 including socially distanced seating, hand sanitisers on entry and a requirement for audience members to wear facemasks. Tickets are £12 and £5 for under 18s and are only available in advance.
