Community spirit shines in ‘Light-up Hassocks’ event

In an evening of family fun, children paraded down the traffic free high street, carrying brightly coloured lanterns.

There were food and craft stalls, with traders offering warming mulled wine, mince pies and hot dogs.

Father Christmas was invited by Burgess Hill District Lions Club to drop in to meet the children and a live nativity scene and carol singing reminded revellers of the true meaning of Christmas.

The successful event was down to the hard work of Michelle Binks, who chairs the ‘Light-up Hassocks’ committee and Kate Bailey who are both standing down this year.

They will be a hard act to follow in an event that brings the whole community together.
