Hairspray in August at White Rock

Following a fantastic set of auditions back in May, this year’s White Rock Theatre Summer Youth Project looks set to be the biggest yet.

A great cast of local performers with BIG talent are in place, ready and eager to get cracking on the two week project which sees a group of 80+ nine-19 year olds rehearse and perform the big Broadway musical, Hairspray in just two weeks.

While preparations are under way for costume, set and music, the White Rock Theatre Summer Youth Project production team have come across a slight problem – a missing Link! One of the members of this year’s Summer Youth Project, Andy, has had to decline the role of leading man, Link Larkin having been granted a place at prestigious London drama school, Urdang Academy.

Project manager, Nikki Leach, said: “We wish Andy all the best for his move to London and hope he has a fantastic time at Urdang Academy. However it does mean we are now missing a vital role in this year’s Summer Spectacular.”

The White Rock is now keen to hear from any boys aged 15-19 who wish to audition for a leading role. The Summer Project runs from Monday, August 11 to Saturday, August 23 with performances from August 21 to 23. If you are interested contact Nikki on 01424 462287 or email [email protected].
