Christmas bells and Bowen too

What’s the best way to celebrate your 80th birthday and Christmas at the same time?

Well, if you’re The De La Warr Pavilion, it’s with zany Lorraine Bowen.

Last Sunday saw the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist golden buzzer act grace the De La Warr Pavilion stage once again.

Bowen’s enthusiastic and involving show thrilled the audience when she arrived in a sparkley dress and red tinsel around her neck, Bowen commanding a full house. She was accompanied by a scratch choir (who had spent the day rehearsing in a Bowen-led workshop), a professional bell ringer and, in parts, the audience.

The night was a medley of classic Christmas songs: Winter Wonderland, Silent Night, The Fairytale of New York, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and of course Bowen’s claim to fame, The Crumble Song, (Christmas edition). To round off a magical evening we were treated to a film - the seasonal classic Meet Me In St Louis, starring Judy Garland, Margaret O’Brien, Mary Astor and Lucille Bremner., Including the timeless Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

Overall the evening was very entertaining and festive. The atmosphere was great and everyone got involved. Thanks to the De La Warr and Lorraine Bowen for a fun festive frolic.
