Spokeswoman Margaret Watton said: “Five plays and two directors/producers is a challenge for anyone but thanks to a great script, a fabulous cast and a dedicated backstage team, Janet Methley and Justin Curtis have done a fantastic job.

“The whole project has been a major team effort requiring considerable flexibility and endeavour from everyone.

“The five distinct plays are linked by the common themes of loneliness, obsession and desire for companionship.

“In true Alan Ayckbourn style these subjects are superbly tackled through the medium of humour resulting in five entertaining and thought-provoking pieces of theatre.

“The stage furniture has been specially designed to bring continuity across the plays and the directors have devised a somewhat unusual way of introducing each one.

“The plays are: Mother Figure with Lucy, mum of three; her absent husband’s antics in Drinking Companion; revelations as two couples dine in Between Mouthfuls; scandal at Gosforth’s Fete and finally the pathos of Talk in the Park.”
