Recently opened Arun Crematorium will serve communities in and around Arundel, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Selsey and Worthing – and was built by Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries.

All of Westerleigh Group’s facilities are set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance, which provide pleasant, peaceful places for people to visit.

Westerleigh Group has built a reputation on providing exceptional care to those it works with, supporting the bereaved in creating uniquely personal funerals for their loved ones.

The support doesn’t end when the funeral ends either, as there are many ways in which people can create lasting memorials for their loved ones, in the crematorium grounds or in the form of personal keepsakes.

It can only succeed in providing exceptional care if it employs exceptional people, and the Arun Crematorium team is looking forward to getting to know their neighbours.

Here’s the team which will be there for the community:

Adam left a 33-year army career behind to become the first manager of this brand-new crematorium.

Adam, who was with the Royal Lancers Regiment, said being a soldier had always been his dream job, but he was attracted to Westerleigh Group and a change of career after reading about the vacancy.

He said: “I’m excited because Arun is one of the most modern crematoriums in the business, with a focus on the eco-side, from ultra-low emissions to wildlife grounds, where we can have beehives and wildlife ponds.

“Hopefully we can build relationships with local schools, who can visit our grounds for their school related projects.

“I want Arun Crematorium to be part of the community, to be the hub, and a place of peace.”

Josephine Towns: Crematorium Assistant

Josephine joined Westerleigh Group in July 2023, working at several other crematoriums throughout the country in preparation for her role as Crematorium Assistant at Arun.

She has come from a background of veterinary care and prides herself on offering the highest level of customer care. Josephine will quite often be the first face you see in the office.

However, having a multi-skill set, she may also be in the chapel controlling the audio and visual media, in the crematory, carefully and respectfully supervising cremations, or in the grounds speaking to families about memorials.

Daniel Panesar: Arun Crematorium Grounds Person

Daniel joined Arun Crematorium in July 2023.

Daniel has a wide range of knowledge that he has gained from landscaping over the last couple of years.

He loves the outdoors and being at one with nature. Daniel is especially proud of the gardens at Arun and being here from the start is allowing him to put his own stamp of things to create gardens which can be enjoyed by the community now and by the generations to come.
