Business shortlisted for entrepreneur awards
A business founded in East Grinstead has been shortlisted for the NatWest Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
Co-founded by Mark Solomon and Stuart McClure, lovethesales.com has made the final in the Start-up Entrepreneur of the year category.
Both owners grew up in East Grinstead and worked together at The Caravan Club, a major local employer, before coming up with the idea for the business back in 2015 with a third co-founder, David Bishop.
Mark and Stuart were shocked by the news as they were chosen from thousands of UK entrepreneurs to reach a shortlist of just eight candidates. The business is now based in Oxford Street in London.
Marketing officer Stuart McClure, who still lives in East Grinstead, said about the nomination: “I was completely blown away by the announcement. These milestones really make you reflect on how far you’ve come personally and as a team.”
Stuart, a father of two, had the idea for the business after becoming a father at a young age and developing a knack for finding the best deals online.
Product officer, Mark Solomon, who grew up in East Grinstead and moved to London to pursue a career in his early 20s, said: “It’s just great to be recognised. Running a start-up is extremely challenging with a lot of highs and lows, but it’s great to share these proud moments with friends and family.”
Past winners of the award include David Buttress of Just Eat, Julie Deane OBE of The Cambridge Satchel Company and James Watt of BrewDog.
