et with lockdown starting to relax, only one in ten people are confident they know exactly what the current restrictions mean for organising a funeral, according to Mid Sussex funeral directors

It’s important that people who are organising a funeral know exactly what kind of service they can arrange for their loved one.

At Surrey & Sussex crematorium, 26 people can attend a service in their large chapel and 18 people can attend a service in their small chapel.

At The Downs Crematorium and Woodvale Crematorium, both in Brighton, 30 people can attend a service.

At J & R Matthews in Cuckfield, WM Collins & Son in Burgess Hill and Frank Davey & Co in Hurstpierpoint, a limousine service is now able to be provided, saying they know how important the service is to people.

They have installed a perspex partition between the chauffeur and passengers to provide a safe environment.

Each limousine is available for family members from the same household with a maximum of six people per vehicle.

Even with relaxations to restrictions around social distancing it will still be important for the most vulnerable to stay away from gatherings of people if they can.

During the lockdown period, more people showed an interest in live streaming funerals over the internet.

Availability of live-streaming will depend on where the funeral is held, but Surrey & Sussex and Woodvale Crematorium do have live-streaming capability as well as the opportunity to request a recording.
