Swashbuckling scenes as panto season begins

As the excitement mounts towards tomorrow’s opening performance of Peter Pan at the White Rock Theatre, the cast and crew are busy adding the finishing touches to what will be a spectacular swashbuckling adventure.

Among this year’s talented cast led by Paul Nicholas as the villainous Captain Hook are many young people from around the local area, all of whom successfully auditioned for the roles of John and Michael, Lost Boys, and dancers.

Daryl Back, executive producer for the pantomime, explained: “It is very important to encourage young people into the theatre and to enable them to experience high quality productions”.

Peter Pan director Nik Ashton, who is also currently resident director on the award-winning musical Matilda, said: “The lost boys and dancers have been working incredibly hard for the last five weeks, and as we move to rehearsals onstage I’m sure they will continue to develop their performances.

Choreographer Heather Douglas who has worked both in London and New York has been very impressed by the standard of the young people in the show.

“I have enjoyed working with them and their enthusiasm and energy will translate to an audience when on stage,” she said.
