100% per cent pass rate in booze test

Two under-age drinkers were refused service by pubs and off licences in Heathfiel during a police 'test purchase operation'.

Two young girls, aged sixteen and seventeen, visited licenced premises in the town, and attempted to purchase alcopops.

A total of eight premises were visited. These were made up of five Off Licences, and three Public Houses. The girls were refused service at every establishment, without exception.

Sergeant Dave Pirce said: 'This is another really excellent result, and everyone engaged on the operation were really pleased with the positive way in which the young people were dealt with.

'When we first started conducting these operations the results were far from satisfactory, with our young people being served at numerous establishments within the Wealden area.'
